Wound Current Transformers

A wound current transformer has primary winding and secondary windings that are wrapped around a laminated core. The primary winding of a wound current transformer is made up of more than one turns of large cross-section wire linked in series with the circuit to be measured. Primary winding is dielectrically insulated from secondary windings and core.

This type of current transformer could be found everywhere that a high accuracy of CT, at low primary current, is required.
